In Psalms chapter 50, the psalmist records a direct quote from God. We know that all scripture is inspired by God or “God-breathed”, but a direct quote from God somehow gives unique attention to the message. We know that messages direct from God to his servants caused them to fall on their faces in fear and reverence.
In Psalms 50, God tells us directly what he wants. In verses 14 and 15, God says, “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” In verse 23, God says, “The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”
In His own words, God simplifies our obedience, actions, and attitudes. Offer thanksgiving, perform your vows rightly, and pray to Him for help. Read Psalms 50 very closely. God doesn’t need our actions. God wants us to ”offer”, “perform”, and “call”. It’s that simple.
